Riad Dar Najat In Marrakech

"coolest riad in Marrakech"

thanks for lovely post!
Just returned from a Great stay at Riad Dar Najat! The photos on the Dar Najat website don't do it justice. My wife and myself along with my cousin and his wife (both from Michigan,USA) were a little nervous about travelling to Morroco (speak very little French and no Arabic) but were met Immediately on exiting the airport by a taxi driver with a 'Welcome Doug' sign in hand, ready to bring us to Dar Najat. The owner of the hotel (Oliver) arranged for this (cost roughly 25 euro). All arranagements were handled very professionally from booking (by email) to final payment at the riad on our last day. The hotels' owner, Oliver and his wife Souad went out of their way to make our entire experience confortable and enjoyable (as did the rest of the staff).Once at the Riad we were treated like family. My wife and myself were traveling with my cousin and his wife (from Michigan). We were all very happy with our rooms finding them clean and well kept. The air conditioning was well appreciated especially in July! The entire riad is decorated in Morrocan style and makes you feel like your living the dream. The staff prepared complementary continental breakfasts for us along with fresh squeezed juice each morning which was wonderful. There was no charge for tea, coffee, water or juice any time of day. The four of us ate dinner at Dar Najat twice (200 dh each). Both meals were fabulous, served on the upper terrace level, under the stars. Highly recommend this! The hotel staff was always helpful. On our first day a member of staff walked us to the main square and the 'souks'. Just a short walk (leasurely 5 to 10 minutes). They were also happy to bring us to local shops, the tannery, museums ect... often even waiting for us. By the end of day 2 we were very confortable in Marrakech and wandered around on our own...We found the people of Marrakech friendly and helpful several times having people pointing the way to local attractions if they felt we looked lost. Once at the Riad we travelled everywhere on foot although we stayed within the old city. Thanks to the entire staff of Dar Najat we had a wonerful stay in Marrakech and special thanks to Oliver and Souad.

Had a fantastic stay at the Dar Najat, and it was mostly down to the welcoming atmosphere created by the owners and staff. From the moment I arrived, Oliver was the perfect host. I was treated to peppermint tea on arrival and then a guided tour of the Djemaa El Fna with two other guests. We then had coffee and chatted in a cafe on this insane (in a good way) square. When I wasn't sure of how to get home from a restaurant later on, a member of staff was so kind as to come and get me!The decoration of the riad is stunning. The detail and the craftsmanship is something to behold - it's like something from a movie set, simply beautiful.Breakfast is complimentary and was served whatever time I got up from bed - excellent service. To those of you who expected everybody in the raid to be fluent in English, I suggest you pick up a phrase book and learn some French words - it's not that hard! To expect a Western experience in a riad in Marrakech is not only unrealistic, but downright rude. Get involved and embrace Marrakech for what it is. Thanks for a great stay!

Myself and my wife stayed at Riad Dar Najat for 6 nights as part of our honeymoon in Aug 08, it was absolutely fantastic, the best hotel we have stayed in. Oliver is the perfect host, both welcoming, friendly and full of helpful information about Marrakech, nothing was too much effort and he always had a smile and a good chat when we saw him. The Riad itself is beautifully decorated, cool and calm, the perfect oasis in the middle of Marrakech, we can't recommend Riad Dar Najat enough and will be back. All the staff were great, the Riad itself is very close to the heart of things so was perfect for what we needed which was a good base for sightseeing but also close enough to go back during the middle of the day when the heat of morroco got too much, they have a great small pool on the roof terrace which came in handy.Breakfast was always very good as was the freshly squeezed orange juice made at the Riad.Overall we will be back at sometime (when its cooler, august is hot!) and are already recommending it to anyone who will listen! If we could rate it a 10 on here we would! Thank you for a great stay Oliver your Riad deserves to be full every night of the year!
