  1. “Fantastic! A lovely place to stay.”

We stayed for 3 nights at Dar Najat and it was like being at home. Olivier and his staff made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much problem for any of them. They organised our pick-up from the airport and took us straight to the Riad. We were taken straight up onto the terrace and offered a glass of beer / wine. Everything was very relaxed - they cooked a delicious supper for us. Be prepared for the wonderful breakfasts - very filling - small pancakes, fresh fruit, omelettes, fresh bread, pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee or Moroccan mint tea. Such a lovely start to the day!

Our room was very comfortable with an ensuite. And being a riad we actually felt like we were in a Moroccan home. The house was beautifully decorated and furnished. Our shower was very spacious and there was plenty of hot water. Olivier sat with us on the first morning with a map and recommended places to visit which we found very helpful given that we wanted to see and do as much as we could in the short time we had.

Location: the Riad is located in the best area - we were about a 7/8 minute walk from the main square - and on the first morning Amine from the Riad took us there, showed us our bearings, so we didn't get lost. And we didn't!

Shopping: the Souk is amazing - buzzing. The shopkeepers don't hassle you unless you showa genuine interest in wanting to buy something. There is so much to see - the spice quarter, the tannery, the area where all the fabrics are dyed, pottery, scarves, leather items, dried fruits, all kinds of olives, etc etc.

Eating: we stopped and had a pot of Moroccan mint tea in a cafe overlooking the main square. There are plenty of places to eat lunch. Louis ( from the Riad ) recommended a restaurant for one of our evening meals. He reserved a table for us and took us there. We had a great evening - good atmosphere, great food, belly-dancer, etc.

One of the highlights was a trip around the new part of Marrakech in a horse and carriage. There are plenty of them waiting at the main square so after a bit of haggling on the price we set off. We asked to be dropped off at the Jardin Majorelle - a must - and the driver waited for us until we were finished and we continued our trip.

The whole household were extremely friendly and always made sure we were OK and made our stay a very welcome one. I think that really added to our trip. Olivier arranged a taxi to take us back to the airport.

I would really recommend Dar Najat. My highlight was spending a couple of hours in the kitchen with the girls while they shared their recipes with me. It was my husband's birthday that day, and they asked me what they should cook for us that evening. There was alot of laughter and fun - not something you would get if you were booked into a hotel.

So the biggest thank you to Olivier, Soad, Amine, Louis, Maroc, Aicha, Touria and Sakina. We had the best time and came home feeling like we had made some new friends.
